008

another nourishment gathering iteration has landed, and we’re honoured to bring it to life in community —

marrying Oaxacan culinary traditions with Japanese reminiscent techniques and ingredients, gathering 008 invites sensorial experimentation, disruption of what we view to be ‘normalcy’ in the kitchen, and togetherness in culinary expansion.

with six courses and three beverages curated, our menu eases us through the airy and vibrant calles of Oaxaca, México, amidst infusing the richness and structured umami of Japanese gastronomy.

to ease us in, ‘caldo’, traditionally served as an appetizer at cantinas throughout México, is a rich and warm single serving of broth, traditionally ‘de camarón’. we’re spinning it - welcoming starting notes of shiitake, kombu dashi and smoky chile varietals, with a balancing acidity. the courses to follow resume in story-telling, and we’re looking forward to guiding you through it, as a collective.

we welcome pairs (yes, this means bring a date with you. or chosen kin. or eat for two, we never judge) to dine with us on sunday january 28th, at hausa *. hausa is located in toronto, around the dundas x dvp area — exact details will be shared upon confirmation of your reservation.

for nourishment gathering 008 we’ve adopted a sliding scale approach; listing a handful of reservations at $150 (equating to $75 a person), and the remainder of our reservations at $200. in effort to continuously provide accessible community experiences in a heightened food market, our team functions primarily on donations, and out of pocket. we understand (and apologize) that it’s increasingly difficult to afford balanced meals and culturally accessible foods, and are committed to continuing to do our best to host, gather, and nourish community.
