FUNDS RAISED FOR THAMRA + SUDAN SOLIDARITY COLLECTIVE (FARMER’S ALLIANCE)
—
On January 13th 2025, we'll be hosting Nourishment Gathering 009, a dinner service in support of the ongoing organized labour of Thamra and Sudan Solidarity Collective (Farmers Alliance).
Both projects, centred on fielding land, seed and food regeneration work, are frontlining collective change in land-sovereignty that we remain grateful for, and look towards.
With reservations available for tables of two ($120) and four ($200), Gathering 009 offers six-courses for folx, with all funds going to both organizations.
Fundraising efforts are one avenue (of the many required) to restore and rebuild among areas in The Global South that are ongoingly enduring (in different, yet paralleled ways) state-led and imperial violence, expropriation, food militarization/ weaponization tactics, colonial harm and erasure.
No dollar amount or material value can ever be commensurate with the ongoing loss of Martyrs and Lands, and there are important, historic traditions of organizing and expressions of care that exist outside of commercial exchange. We invite you to consider what it means to place a commercial value on food and land-stewardship resources (Indigenous seeds, drainage systems, water filters, farming tools, soil education, etc.) in the first place, and how we can support farmers, stewards, and kin in our current systems, in ways that allow them to sustain themselves, with dignity, in their material conditions.
In honouring transparency, once our dinner service is complete, we'll share final fund totals and allocations to both organizations.
(UPDATE — as of 01/14/25 — $2568 CAD was raised from all ticket sales. Both Thamra and Sudan Solidarity Collective (Farmer’s Alliance) will be receiving $1284 in support of their ongoing organizing. Thank you to all folx who contributed and nourished alongside us).

Learning more about Thamra and SSC:
Thamra is a food and land sovereignty organization working to restore access to clean water, grow urban food gardens and provide fresh produce to folx in Gaza. Thamra understands self-sufficiency as a path to dignity and supports Palestinians that are being denied the resources to grow and nourish on fresh food.
Sudan Solidarity Collective (Farmer’s Alliance): The SSC formed in response to the outbreak of a brutal war in Sudan, seeking to resource grassroots civil society formations at relief effort frontlines in the parts of Sudan that are hardest hit by militarised state violence. Sudan Solidarity Collective’s ‘Farmers Alliance Fund (We Must Plant Campaign)’ is where we will be sharing our proceeds.

Our deepest gratitude to Daymi for sharing their space with us and donating local and seasonal ingredients for us to be able to nourish over. Gathering in this manner would not have been possible without their generosity and open arms.
